Teacher Survey 2009

The UNI Physics Department is a state leader in physics teacher training. In order to further strengthen our programs, we were interested in finding out more about the current state of high school physics teaching in Iowa.

In 2009, physics teaching major Trevor Kittleson, working with Dr. Jeff Morgan, sent an invitation to all known high school physics teachers in Iowa to participate in a survey. The survey probed teachers' educational backgrounds, classroom practices, beliefs about effective teaching, and interest in professional development.

After analyzing the survey results, Kittleson and Morgan wrote a report presenting and discussing their findings. The full report is available, as well as a two-page summary of key findings.

Questions or comments about the survey report should be directed via email to jeff.morgan@uni.edu.
