Regional Physics Competition winners advance to state competition

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Winners from the University of Northern Iowa/Area Education Agency 267 Regional Physics Competition will advance to the state physics competition to be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, April 17, in the McLeod Center on UNI's campus.

Approximately 216 high schools students participated in the regional competition .

Winning teams include: Cedar Falls Team B placed first in the overall team competition and the mousetrap car and bridge-building events; Cedar Falls Team A placed second in the overall team competition; Tripoli placed first in the self-propelled catapult event; Humboldt placed first in the soda straw arm and material-recovery facility events; and Waterloo East placed first in the challenge problem.
