2009 UNI Physics Update Conference

This year’s conference will be held April 24, 2009 (Friday) from 9 am to 3:30 pm at Begeman Hall on the University of Northern Iowa campus.  We are inviting existing and future high school physics teachers to participate at no cost (which includes lunch) to the first 40 applicants.  This year’s conference highlights will include information about the recently funded Title II Iowa Physics Teacher Instruction and Resources program (a 3 year professional development program for out-of-field and existing high school physics teachers), UNI Physics Classroom Resources Loan Program, AEA 267 Enhancing Education Through Technology (E2T2) – Science Initiative for High schools, Exploratory Program for Expanding Nanoscience Education in Northern Iowa, and mini-Sumo robotic competition.  Plan on attending the conference to revitalize your enthusiasm for teaching physics and physical science.

IMSEP-TagRGBThis year’s conference is being funded by a grant obtained by the Iowa Mathematics and Science Education Partnership.  The Iowa Mathematics and Science Education Partnership (IMSEP) is a state funded initiative led by the University of Northern Iowa, in partnership with Iowa State University and the University of Iowa.  IMSEP’s goals are to improve the mathematics and science performance of Iowa students; to prepare more high quality mathematics and science teachers for Iowa’s schools; and to promote statewide collaboration and cooperation.
