Physics Building Renovation Project in progress May
2006-July 2007 (North Perspective)
Dear Friends and Alumni,
The 2005-2006 academic year was a busy one for UNI Physics faculty,
staff and students! During summer 2005, we packed the general physics
teaching labs and moved all introductory classes and labs to the Center
for Energy and Environmental Education at the southern end of campus
(to CEEE 12, 14, and 16). Late December saw the move of Dr. Dale Olson's
optics tables (to CEEE 20), Dr. Paul Shand's low temperature magentism
lab and the modern physics lab (to CEEE 18), and the Physics Office
(to CEEE 113). The Electronics lab, the Computer lab and all faculty
offices moved to Sabin and Baker Halls in mid-March, during spring
break. Final auctions of old lab tables and some furniture were complete
by late April, in time for Larson Construction of Independence, Iowa,
to begin interior demolition on May 8, 2006. Interior demolition of
walls was moving on apace in early June as the photos below show.
The renovation is scheduled to be completed by mid-July 2007, and
Physics plans to be teaching in its new spaces in fall 2007. Photo
updates will be provided every four weeks. Let us hear what you think!
