Photographs of renovation progress: November 14, 2006

November 14, 2006. Looking across the construction yard at
the concrete base and sides of what will become the new south
stairs, leading up to the 1st level main entrance.

November 14, 2006. The building's SW corner [the elevator
tower is just outside the photo, to the left]. The old foundations
required waterproofing.
|

November 14, 2006. What was the "Demo room" on
the 2nd levelnext to Dr. Dale Olson's office area, at
the NE corner of the building. This will be the new Electronics
and Robotics Lab, across the hall from the new Physics Office,
and next to the future 2nd floor enclosed walkway to Lang
Hall (where the new General Physics II and Nanoscience labs
will be).
|

November 14, 2006. What was PHY 108, the General Physics II
lab; it will be the Physics Computer classroom (Room 102). The
old windows have been removed [an unplanned necessity, given
the poor condition of the wood framing] and covered with plastic
sheeting. The new windows will have less woodwork and will allow
more light to enter the room. The lowered ceiling does not impinge
at the windows (note the gap at the ceiling around the right
window).

November 14, 2006. On the 3rd level, looking down what is the
new elevator shaft. The new central north stairway is to the
left, outside the photo image. The new General Physics I studio
lab is to the right of where the photographer is standing.
|

November 14, 2006. 3rd level faculty offices, off an internal
hallway, next to the General Physics I studio lab. An emergency
door to the fire escape can be seen through the far doorway.
The fire escape will be removed (to allow the 2nd level enclosed
walkway to Lang Hall) and the emergency door will become a window-for
what will be a Physics Education storage room. Faculty offices
for Drs. Escalada, Morgan, and Roth are at right.
